Mountain forests of Latin America, Africa and Asia make their case in the climate agenda

El Programa de Bosques Andinos junto a la Red Social Forestal de ASEAN, el Foro Forestal de África y el Programa Global de Cambio Climático de la Agencia Suiza para el Desarrollo y la Cooperación (COSUDE) organizaron ayer 8 de Diciembre la sesión conjunta “Paisajes Forestales de Montaña para Sociedades Resilientes”.
El evento se desarrolló en el Pabellón Perú de la COP21 en París y contó con la participación de representantes de iniciativas en bosques de Asia,

Peru: National Strategy on Climate Change approved

Lima, September 23, 2015.

The National Strategy on Climate Change was enacted by Supreme Decree Nº011-2015. This strategy is an instrument to guide and promote national efforts to manage climate change. It is to be included in Peruvian policies, plans and in sectoral and sub national programs.

The strategy was adopted in compliance with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which states that countries should develop, implement and update measures to mitigate climate change and facilitate an adequate adaptation process.

Andean forests to the world: Results of the experience at the World Forestry Congress

Lima, September 17th, 2015.-

From September 7th to 11th, the Andean Forests Program was present at the XIV World Forestry Congress (WFC) that was held in Durban, South Africa. The central theme was “Forests and people: investing in a sustainable future” .

The conference highlighted the need for a change of paradigms. From a sectorial one on forest management towards one focused on forest landscape management. In this manner it will be possible to contribute more effectively to the provision of solutions and answers for climate change resilient livelihoods and sustainable development.

Strengthening capacities to introduce risk management

Con gran éxito el 30 y 31 de julio, inició el Diplomado ¨Identificación, Formulación y Evaluación de Proyectos de Inversión Pública, incorporando la Gestión de Riesgos en contexto de Cambio Climático¨, en la región Apurímac, organizado por el Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas con el apoyo de diferentes instituciones.

Este importante diplomado compuesto por 5 módulos que serán impartidos entre julio 2015 y enero 2016, fortalecerá las capacidades de formuladores y evaluadores de proyectos de inversión pública de las gerencias regionales,

Exchange between CONAF Chile and SERFOR Peru

Coordination for collaboration between Peru and Chile began in the city of Santiago de Chile, May 25th and 26th. This meeting took place in the framework of designing the NAMAs (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions) and their national strategies that integrate climate change and vegetation resources in order to identify common actions that contribute to consolidate such initiatives in each of the countries.

The Andean Forests Programme, facilitated by the Consortium formed by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and CONDESAN and supported by the Swiss Development Cooperation SDC,
